*NO CSA SHARES AVAILABLE FOR THE 2023 SEASON* You can read our March newsletter for an explanation.
YOU CAN FIND OUR PRODUCE AT THE FOLLOWING PLACES (APRIL-OCTOBER):
- Klamath Grown Online Market
- Klamath Falls Farmers Market
- Local restaurants: Rodeos Pizza, LEAP, Terra Veg
- Klamath County Schools
What you get:
- Every week you will receive the freshest, highest-quality, most diverse vegetables you can find in the Basin. The variety of vegetables will vary week to week, depending what we are harvesting. The number of items will range from four to ten (see photo gallery at bottom of page for samples of a weekly share).
- Our CSA season is 20 weeks long and runs from late-May to mid-October
- Weekly recipes from local chef Liz Arraj (owner of Terra Veg) customized to the contents of your CSA, plus other tips and tricks on storing and preparing your veggies in the weekly newsletter.
- First dibs on farm events and farm swag sales.
- The chance to be part of a community of like-minded people who also enjoy fresh vegetables, the security of knowing your where your food comes from and knowing your farmer! The farm is always open to members who want to visit or get their hands dirty in the field. We love connecting people to the land and their food!
- Opportunities to support a variety of projects Sweet Union Farm is involved in, primarily our efforts to make fresh, healthy food more accessible to everyone in our community.
Payment:
- Each share costs $400 for the full season and is meant to feed a 1-2 person household. Shares are smaller to make them more manageable (single people need CSAs too!). If it is too much, you can always find someone to split it with.
- If you have a larger family or eat a lot of vegetables, we suggest buying two shares ($25 discount if one household buys two)
- We have scholarships available to help make CSA shares more affordable. To apply, please fill out the CSA Scholarship Application.
Pickup/Drop-off: There are two options…
- City drop-off: Tuesday, 5-7pm at a Pacific Terrace residence (specific address will be shared with registered CSA members).
- On-farm pickup: Thursday, 5-7pm evenings on the farm (6010 S 6th St.).
- Please choose one option for the entire season. If you are going to miss a week, we encourage you to have a friend pick it up for you - I'm sure they won't mind the delicious veggies! We are unable to coordinate alternative pickup times.
Community Supported Agriculture is a mutually supportive partnership between us, the farmers, and you, the eaters! This means together we share the bountiful rewards of the harvest as well as the risks that come with farming sustainably.
CSA FAQ
1. What if I'm out of town for a CSA pickup?
Ask a friend or family member to pick it up for you. I'm sure they won't mind the veggies! Please coordinate directly with them and send us a quick text or email to let us know who will be picking up your CSA share that week. If you are unable to find anyone, please let us know as soon as possible so we can contact someone on our wait list.
2. What if I forget or am unable to pick up my CSA at the last minute?
Unfortunately, we are unable to coordinate alternative pickup times or days. This is essentially a one woman show, so I won't be able to dedicate any time to arranging pickup and storing a left behind CSA. Since I take great pride in the quality of my vegetables, I do not feel comfortable leaving a box sitting outside for pickup for any length of time.
3. Do I have to stick with one pickup location/time?
Yes, please. If you need to switch partway through the season, that's fine as long as you let us know the week before. We won't be able to coordinate multiple changes or changes week to week.
4. Can I share my CSA with someone?
Yes! Lots of CSA members are sharing with a friend. Just make sure to let us know so we can get contact information for both people. How you split the share is up to you - some people pick it up together and split it on the spot or some take turns and pick up every other week.
